When you move – your home, your business or otherwise – it’s an opportunity to recycle or donate things that are still good, but don’t fit or aren’t needed at your new location.
As GM Packaging gets ready to move on July 1st, we’re taking a fresh look at items that are still useful and in good shape, but won’t be required for one reason or another at our new location. Perfectly fine furniture, shelving, storage bins, materials and more could be just what someone else needs and would appreciate for little or no cost.
Some of our favourite organizations for such donations are:
As the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) explains:
“We work with local companies to repurpose used electronics and IT equipment in a safe and secure manner. Our team works with community charities to provide repurpose computers and electronics to those in need. Contribute to our mission of reducing e-waste by recycling your unwanted electronic devices with the ERA.”
“When we upgrade or update our furniture or equipment, we always pull together the older but still useful components to give to others. We’re doing this as part of our move packing, too. We know these things are appreciated. Good stuff gets an extended life rather than going in the garbage!” said Sidh Sharma, Retail Customer Service Representative at GM Packaging.
Here is some more useful information on places where you can donate your stuff before your move (including different criteria and stuff that isn’t suitable to donate).
What a great way to lighten your moving load and help others!
